Faces behind the project – Laura Ventura Termes
My name is Laura Ventura Termes and I was born in 1985. I have a degree in Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Public Relations (PR) and Communication from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. I started my professional career in the media, working in press (print and online newspapers and magazines), TV and radio for five years. After that, I developed my career in communications in a PR Agency and then joined Cetaqua’s Communication Department in 2012. Since then, I have been involved in several European projects and I support the corporate communication tasks, such as the website, the annual report and the production of other communication materials. In my spare time I collaborate with a local newspaper and practice sports: I ride horse (I practice dressage) and I recently started doing crossfit. I also have two beautiful and quite naughty dogs.
How did you come to work for DESSIN and what do you do within the project?
I began to work for the DESSIN project as part of Cetaqua’s communication team. When it was clear that Cetaqua was going to be Work Area 4 leader, I started working on DESSIN’s dissemination and communication strategy. I currently work alongside Francesc Gómez on all the different communication and dissemination materials of the DESSIN project, such as the brochure, the newsletter or the annual magazine. We are currently working on the organization of the Barcelona workshop in January 2017.
What do you like most about working for a large European water research project like DESSIN?
I mainly like getting to know different concepts and ideas that are different from my own field of expertise. I get the chance to dig into many technologies and methodologies that I couldn’t discover if I wasn’t working on DESSIN. I also have the opportunity to meet several people from other countries and cultures, which gives me the chance to discover other ways of thinking and working. It clearly gives me another perspective and enriches me.
If you had one wish regarding the current water situation, what would it be?
It definitely would be the universal access to drinking water. It’s a shame that in 2016 not everybody can have drinking water, while others aren’t using this precious resource in a responsible way.
Do you save water and if yes, how?
I do the little things a common citizen can do, like closing the tap while brushing teeth, showering instead of bathing or not throwing away water. It’s not a big deal but it’s all we can do if we are not big decision makers on the water sector.
